| Portrait of Spencer Perceval, the grandson of the Prime Minister Spencer Perceval by James Holmes Jr. The watercolour on ivory, head-and-shoulders portrait depicts Spencer Perceval in 3/4 pose, facing left. He wears the uniform of the Coldstream Guards. His scarlet coat with gold buttons in pairs, the collarembroidered with the Star of the Order of the Garter. White shoulder belt with gold belt plate also embroidered with the Star of the Garter. Gold Epaulettes. Signed and dated to the reverse, "James Holmes Jr/Pinxit 1847/London" and inscribed "Spencer Perceval/Gren Guards". Gold plated frame. Oval, 6 cms. (2 1/2 inches) diameter. Very good condition.
