| Portrait miniature of a woman by Gertrude Clarke, c. 1900. The water colour portrait depicts the woman in 3/4 pose facing right. The woman, with upswept grey hair and blue eyes, is wearing a high neck lace dress with blue glass beads. Against a pastel blue background. Original brass frame. Oval, 5 1/2 cms. diameter (2 1/2 inches). Very good condition. Provenance: By descent through artist's family. Gertrude Clarke was born in Burton-on-Trent, England. She exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1910 and 1914. | ||||||||
