| Portrait miniature of a young woman by Any Gertrude Chamberlain. The water color on ivory, head-and-shoulders portrait depicts a young woman with dark, upswept curly hair, and large brown eyes, wearing a pink gown and a single strand of pearls. Blue background. Signed and dated to obverse, "A G Chamberlain/1922". Original brass easle frame with hanging loop, pierce rose foliate border with ribbon surrmount. Oval, 5 cms. diameter (2 inches). With frame 6 1/2 cms. diameter (2 1/2 inches). Very pretty and interesting subject and in excellent condition. Amy Gertrude Chamberlin was born in London. She was active between 1894 and 1935. Chamberline was a member of the Royal Academy, London, The Society of Miniaturists, and the Society of Women Artists. Her work is included in the collection of the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool. | |||||||
