| Portrait of a child by the artist, "CB", c. 1785. The watercolor and gouache on ivory portrait depicts the child, seated, with a very large brown and white spaniel dog, in a landscape with a river and forest in the background. The child is wearing a white dress with blue ribbon waistband and pink shoes, holding a pink rose, with left arm around the dog. Mounted in an ornate, period gilt gesso frame. Oval portrait, 10 cms. Diameter (4 inches). Rectangular frame, approximately 24 cms. X 21 cms. (9 inches x 8 inches). Excellent condition and one of the sweetest miniatures I have had in some time. | ||||||||
