| French School, early 19th Century. This diminutive watercolor on ivory miniature depicts the facination that the French people had with early hot air balloon launches. The miniature, while difficult to photograph because of its very small and detailed size, is minutely painted in detail with spectators in a landscape, watching a hot air balloon launch in the distance. Miniature circular, 5 cms. diameter (2 inches). Rectangular ivory frame, 6 1/2 cms. X 6 1/2 cms. (2 1/2 inches X 2 1/2 inches). Very good condition.
