| This is a stunning Victorian oval shaped and large brooch, made from hand carved Whitby Jet. It is 2 1/4" x 1 3/4", and it has a beautiful hand painted porcelain portrait mounted within. The portrait appears to be a young boy and the predominant colors in his costume are red with a green hat. The colors are a vivid pink, green and yellow with fine detail and it makes this pendant a real beauty. The brooch is in good condition with no damage to the porcelain, The back of the brooch is very smooth and the pin is a simple "C" clasp, as might be expected on a piece this old. The brooch is in excellent condition - no chips or problems on the front at all. There is a scratch on the back to the lower right of the pin stem. It doesn't detract from the beauty when worn, but I think it needs to be mentioned. Other than that, this is really a lovely piece to be worn and enjoyed. | ||||||
