Stunning Large 1930s Enameled Drum Major Pin
This is a large pin - 3 1/2" long. I blieve that it is brass or pot metal and and depicts an important parade figure - the drum major. I believe it is from the 1930s and it is very detailed - white tall shako with a chain tassel, his baton and costume buttons are trimmed with rhinestones, and there are even chain tassels on his white boots. The red, white and blue patriotic colors may indicate that he is leading a military organization, which is quite possible considering the period he comes from. Really old pins like this one are becoming impossible to find these days, so this one is a treasure. It is in good condition for its age with come paint loss in places, such as might be expected with an 85- 95 year old pin. It has the chalice mark from the New England Glass works which dates back to 1911 and on up through the 1950s. The mark is partially obscured by wear and I could not get a good picture of it.
