Art Deco Artist Signed Hand Painted MOP Cigarette Case
This is a beautiful, hand painted, artist signed 1920-1930's era cigarette case. The case is hinged, and the front and back are mother-of-pearl, probably celluloid panels, set in silver toned metal. The case features a hand painted flapper girl holding a burning cigarette in her hand, and looking quite confident with her hand on her hip. It is signed by the artist, but the name is hard to make out as part of it is worn off. It looks like Ertios, but I am not sure. The case measures 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". The condition is good, but the cross pieces usually found in cigarette cases to hold the cigarettes are not there. They could have been metal or elastic, but I don't see where they ever were. There is a little bit of wear to the outside metal and to a small area by the catch from use. The interior has corrosion which you can see in the pictures. The hinge is nice and solid and the case snaps shut. It is an unusual truly Art Deco collector's item.
