Finally, after two years of trying, I have gotten my hands on a "Flash Gordon" Sobral purse. Flash Gordon was the series Sobral made of discarded computer mother boards. He found that the metal on these boards was copper, so he polished it and embedded the pieces into black resin. Like everything else Sobral does - no two pieces are exactly alike.
For the unitiated, Sobral jewelry is designed by Jackie Brazil and is made in Buenos Aires. This jewelry is made of recycled bits and pieces that he saves from the trash heap and placesinnovatively in resin. Every pieceis hand made, finely finised, and polished to a high gloss.
Little was known of this designer until Karl Lagerfeld discovered the jewelry and commissioned Sobral to make the jewelry for his Spring fashion shows in Paris in 2009. Suddenly the jewelry became high fashioned and high priced, sold mostly in boutiques in New York, Paris and London, as well as appearing on the Red Carpets throughout the world.
The purses were made in small and
large. This is the smaller one - about 5" high, 5" wide at the bottom tapering up to 31/2" wide at the top-- big enough to hold the essentials for a special evening, and I can guarantee anyone that has one that theirs will be the most unique purse in the room.
The purse has never been used and still has the Sobral tag. It will also come to you with a dust bag - naturally, a dust bag made of recycled materials. It is truly a treasure.
