Carved from a heavy and dense slab of wood, this door is carved with fanciful camels, horses, deer, elephants, and an animal I can't identify. It is the work of the Tharu people of the southernmost (Terai) region of Nepal.
Not including the pins (which are carved from the same plank) it measures 20.5 x `3.5 inches. With the pins it is 25-1/2". The wood is almost 2" thick.
It is in excellent condition protected by the dense, insect-impervious hardwood (sal) from which it is cut.
