Tibetan Brass-bound Wooden Tea Pourer
Browse through our on-line catalogue and you will see a copper version of this same uniquely Tibetan form of tea pourer. Incidentally, they were also used to pour water as well as Tibetan butter tea, a drink as unique to Tibet as this form is, even if not quite so palatable to Western tastes.

Unlike the copper one, this wooden one will definitely not hold water - that is until it has been soaked for a prolonged period. It is constructed just like a barrel, with staves, and they have shrunk from lack of use. Aside from the wood shrinkage it is in very good condition.

It is considerable larger than the copper one. This one measures 7-1/2 inches in diameter and is 11-1/2 inches high. We assume that it is just as old as the copper one, probably considerably older, but without an inscribed date, there's no way to tell for certain. Over one hundred years is a reasonable estimate.
