The black shiny beads called ritas are used almost exclusively be Nepalese shamans. Here they are combined with rudraksha beads and a claw in a shaman's necklace. Shamans
usually include something sharp in their malas as a protective device. This necklace includes 45 rudrakshas and 22 ritas. It is forty-one inches long and as can be seen from the photos has a wonderful patina which can only come from years of use. |
