| The definitive and fascinating work on the history of the Walls and Gates of Peking (北京的城墙和城门) by Osvald Siren which were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. This book was published in a limited edition of only 800 copies (London 1924) with 115 heliogravure plates, 50 architectural drawings (2 in colour) and a folding skeleton map of Peking. Very rare. Size: 33cm x 28 cm Condition: Very good. Worn edges and fraying to the spines crown. This is being sold together with The Imperial Palaces of Peking (中国北京皇城写真全图)Paris and Brussels 1926) by Oswald Siren Volume 1 (of 3) only. This book contains 72 magnificent photos of the Imperial Palaces as well as plans and architectural drawings. The first volume contains the complete text and plans, and the first 72 collotype plates; Vols. II & III, not present here, contained plates 73-274.
