This is a museum quality 'guo ji' or 'hook-bladed halberd' from the Warring States period of ancient China. Though somewhat simple in form, the precision and attention to detail apparent in this piece are exquisite. The small hook shown in the photograph was found with the main blade and would have been attached to the weapon shaft just beneath the main blade. I could try to describe this fantastic find in detail but will let the images speak for me. More are available on request. The total length of the piece is 29.4 cm and the weight is 243 grams. There are no signs of repair. It is not likely that a specimen of this quality will appear again on the private market.
