This is an amazing bronze spear from the Eastern Zhou period of ancient China (circa 700 BC) or perhaps even earlier. It measures just over 22 cm in length and weighs 58 grams. It has very thin, sculpted blades protruding from each side. The shaft, beginning at the hafting loops, is faceted into 8 distinct planes. The hafting loops are damaged. This piece does have a repair to the blade on one side which corresponds to the dark colored area on the edge of one blade, visible in the photographs. Consequently, the price for this piece is quite a bit lower than you would expect to pay for an un-repaired piece. Don't let the repair scare you away from adding this to your collection. Remember, many pieces in the finest museums have had repairs. This is still quite a fine and rare piece.
