This is a magnificent example of a round-handle sword from the Spring and Autumn period of ancient China (770-476 BC). With the exception of a few minor nicks to the blade edges this piece is in pristine condition. It has a beautiful, golden, honey-brown patina often associated with wet burials. There is no sign of reepair or restoration anywhere on this piece. It measures a massive 50.5 cm in length. Since the ban on importation of Chinese antiquities stepped up in January of 2009 these weapons are becoming increasingly difficult to find - especially in such marvelous condition.
