Oaxaca,Mexico Folkart Chupacabras Woodcarving
Well-known Oaxacan artisan Eleazar Morales creates very unusual carvings, and this intricately carved and painted Chupacabras is a fine example. The mythical creature's body is painted a blue and turquoise pattern, with red and black on the the legs, arms, stomach and marvelously carved claws. The wonderfully detailed head has gold and red eyes encircled with yellow, a green patterned nose and a mouth with deftly painted teeth. A really outstanding piece! Approximate dimensions: 9" Long x 8" Wide x 8" High.
