Oaxaca, Mexico Devil Folkart Carving

The devil is a favorite subject for Oaxacan artisan Avelino Perez, and his two campesinos show his originality. #49-14 (on the left) is a campesino with an ax over his shoulder and #49-15 (on the right) is a campesino with a pick over his shoulder. Each is dressed in white, with brown sandals on his feet. Devil horns protrude from their tan hats and their faces, feet and hands are the expected "devil red." Each is approximately 7-1/2" high, including horns.
