| Parvati is the consort of Shiva and her name means "she who dwells in the mountains". She was the daughter of Himavat (Lord of the mountains) and his queen Mena. She is usually described as very beautiful. In this murti, Parvati is portrayed is the elegant tribhang position, with her left hand in the kathaka position, requesting the offering of flowers. The composition of the murti is very classical and the narrow waist and unusual blue-grey patina give it a definite grace. Height 9.2 cm width 3.5 cm. | ||
