A Toddy or Punch Ladle in Sterling Silver by Gorham in the rare Louis XIV pattern, for Theodore B. Starr and Herman Marcus. It is in a bent ladle shape (may have been straight originally, but more likely it was based on designs in the George III period) and dates from about 1870, when the design was patented. It weighs 6.4 Troy ounces and measures 8" x 5", with a bowl of 4.5" x 3.5". Its unbent length would be 14.5". There is a monogram "N" on the underside of the handle...

An Excellent Porcelain Armorial Inkstand or Deskset, made by Edme Samson et Cie, Paris, circa 1880. In a Rectangular Shape, with Two Inkwells, with Inserts. Dimensions; 10.25" wide x 7,75" deep x 3.5" high. In excellent shape, except for a slight chip on on of the inkwell tops (see picture). There is no mark on the underside, but it is definitely Samson, based on other items we have recently posted.
