He was primarily a still life painter although he did paint many portraits. He is especially known for his representation of GRAPES, especially of those grown in the US. CLEMENT METIVIER ( 1910-1996; A CANADIAN-AMERICAN Artist. "AUTUMN IN THE HILLS", Oil on Masonite. Signed lower right. Metvier was born in Canada, worked in the New England area, and in 1946, moved to California where he remained until his death. He was known as a California painter. “He was a highly skilled plein air painter, his works are rare” (Edna Hughes: Artists in California.) Dimension; 16" x 19"; framed; 20.5" x 24.5". Excellent condition.

THOMAS CRESWICK R A; 1811-1869; BRITISH CROSSING THE STREAM; Oil on Canvas Thomas Creswick was a British landscape painter. Among his most favorite subjects were English and Welsh streams and British rural scenery. He exhibited in many art venues including the Royal Academy and the British Institute of Art. Although the painting is not signed, there is an old brass plaque on the frame which, along with the style, leads us to believe that it is likely a Creswick

ANTHONY THEIME-1888-1954; DUTCH/AMERICAN SCENE IN HOLLAND; Oil on Canvas; Signed lr A Theime Thieme was born in Rotterdam, Holland in 1888;and trained at the Royal Academy in Holland and in Italy and Germany. He was a painter, a teacher and an ardent traveler. In 1917, he came to America and settled in Rockport, MA where he established and taught at the Thieme School of Art. One sees the influence of his travels in the various subject matters and scenes he paints...

Brackman studied at the National Academy of Design and was a long time teacher at the Art Students League of NY and elsewhere. His paintings are in many Museum Collections.
