Gerardo Lopez Sterling Silver Taxco Necklace 1950s
Sculptural necklace of linked swirls by sought-after Taxco silver maestro, Gerardo Lopez. (In the 1950s, Lopez had a large taller and shop recommended as one of Taxco’s best, according to “Mexican Silver” by Penny Morrill and Carol Berk, p. 238). This necklace is a highly wearable 16½” long. Each link is about 1 1/8” long x ½” wide. It likely dates to the late 1950s or ’60s. Marked Taxco Lopez in an oval, Sterling 925, Hecho en Mexico, Eagle 23 or 25 (he used both). Very good estate condition; there is a very faint dent in the last link (it is NOT visible in the pictures). 40 grams silver. I have a pair of earrings by this sought-after mid-century Mexican designer up for auction, so be sure to take a look.
