| Collectors: finest quality Navajo, handmade rolling or whirling logs brooch is circa 1930s. Hand applied raindrops create the rare design. The turquoise gem appears to be Fox or Bisbee Mine thats well oxidized. Measuring approximately 1 7/8" in length and about 1" in height. Hand stamped of course and enclosed back, not like tourist pieces you may be familiar with. These early symbols are known as "good luck" and "Four Directions" to those of Native American origins. Many other indigenous people around the globe have used a form of this symbol since Neolithic times. Wikipedia has a fascinating article on the swastika form and shows its application in shrines, temples and architecture through the centuries within many cultures. You may find it interesting. The last picture below is credited to Wikipedia, it depicts a Native American basketball team in 1909, what a noble looking group of athletes! Sale priced reduced from $395 | |||||||
