Skookum Doll 1940s Trade Bead Necklace Beacon Wrap
Right-glancing Skookum doll with composition head, Beacon blanket wrap and authentic trade bead necklace. This is a nice early doll, the felt mocs also have trade bead details, check those great cheekbones. Glancing is determined by which way they are looking from their perspective. So, what may look like lefty to you is actually a right-glance. This is important to many who believe the right-glancing Skookums are "right path" dolls and the leftys are associated with death or danger. This Skookum has mohair hair. Very good overal condition and measusres about 9 1/2". The composition has no chips or cracks. These were not made by Native Americans, but made to represent them by Anglo enterpreneurs such as Mary McAboy of Montana back in 1913, the originator of the Skookum Doll.
