| Carved by Charlie James circa 1920, I only know of a couple of these type of carvings in existence, two in private hands plus this one and a couple in BC museum collections. Referred to as beam crests, they we're intended to hang on a wall or over a door way, some thought is that they may been carved for Native use rather than tourist trade. The carving consists of an individually carved and painted Thunderbird looking down upon a mythological sisuitl or double headed serpent. Executed in red cedar. The carving is in excellent original condition, the second tongue is now in place. | ||
