Fine Old Inuit Eskimo Soapstone Carving Kneeling Hunter
A very fine old Inuit Eskimo soapstone carving of a kneeling man. Carved from a deep dark blue green black colored stone the sculpture originates from the Baker lake region of Canada's arctic north. The sculpture is strong and powerful and is typical of the early work of noted Baker Lake carver by the name of Tuna Iqulik(b1935-). the carving is signed in syllabics to the bottom and is in fine condition. Height 5 1/2" tall, by 4" wide and 2" deep. Tuna is one of the premier Baker Lake carvers and has had numerous exhibitions.
