Fine Kwakiutl Totem Pole Charlie James
Charlie James 1870-1938 A fine old Kwakiutl totem pole by the famous Charlie James (1870-1938) dating from the very early 1900’s. The totem features wonderful imagery of a Thunderbird and Bear grasping a Human holding a ceremonial copper. The totem stands 17" tall with a 8 1/3" wingspan. Faintly to the back one can make out the signature “Charlie James “. Nice dark aged patina with original pigmentation. One wing has an old clean repair noted and a small section at the front of the base must have chipped when the artist was creating the totem and was nailed in place. The totem makes a great display item and a fine addition to anyone’s collection.
