Exquisite azur-malachite and sterling silver necklace and earrings designed and signed (c.1940's) by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling(1900-67). The pendant measures 2 3/4" across and can be removed from the signed 21"L Spratling chain and worn as a brooch. The sterling and azur-malachite earrings measure 1 1/4"L. All pieces fully hallmarked for the artist and all pieces are in beautiful condition. This design was featured in the museum exhibit WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE and pictured on p.97 of the catalog. The pin and earrings are pictured on p.48 of MEXICAN SILVER by Morrill and Berk.
