| Eye catching, rare SPRATLING DE MEXICO entwined hands sterling silver belt buckle designed and signed circa 1949-50 by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling. Buckle measures 5 inches across X 2 1/2 inches high. Each of the two loops on the back measure 2 inches long. Weighs 84 grams, 3.0oz. Hallmarked on the reverse STERLING, SPRATLING DE MEXICO and eagle # 13. The entwined hands design is centered with the yin yang symbol for the circle of life. The buckle can also be worn as a pendant on a chain or cord. This motif was used by Spratling in a necklace of azure malachite and silver which we have available in a separate listing. The necklace was also made in tortoise and silver. This buckle design in tortoise & silver was featured in the museum exhibit WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE.
