Dramatic sterling silver and champleve enamel necklace and earrings designed and signed circa 1950 by Taxco, Mexico artist Margot Van Voorhies. The Cleopatra head pendant or brooch measures 3" X 2 1/2". The detachable enamel chain is 24" long. Each earring measures 1" long. Beautiful original condition with no enamel loss or wear. The earrings are signed but were converted to pierced by the prior owner. The pendant is fully hallmarked on the reverse Margot De Taxco, pattern number 5242, eagle 16. This set is pictured on p.35 of MARGOT VAN VOORHIES THE ART OF MEXICAN ENAMELWORK by Penny Morrill. The necklace was also featured in the museum exhibit WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE.
