Hand made sterling silver and shell letter opener or caviar knife designed and signed circa 1950's by American & Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling. 5 1/2" long. Beautiful condition with no chips, cracks or dings to the silver. Signed on the end of handle with Spratling hallmarks and eagle 30. This design was featured in the museum exhibit WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE and is pictured on p. 191 of the museum catalog by Penny Morrill. Also pictured on Goddards excellent website spratlingsilver.com where she states that Spratling describes this design as "letter opener: silver, flat oval handle, shell lance". Insured shipping included within the U.S.
