Rare handmade sterling silver and chrysocolla or azurite necklace designed and signed (circa 1940's) by American & Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling. Pendant measures 2 1/4" long X 1 1/2" wide. The original sterling chain measures 20" long. Exquisite vintage condition.
Hallmarks are WS SPRATLING MADE IN MEXICO, STERLING. Spratling designs are exhibited in museum collections around the world including the recent permanent installation of 20th CENTURY MEXICAN SILVER at LACMA in Los Angeles featuring many of Spratling's most famous designs.
