Sculptural sterling silver and rosewood pin designed and signed circa 1940's by American and Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). Brooch measures 2 1/4" X 2". Design features intricate silver ribbons and balls surrounding faceted rectangular rosewood. Fully hallmarked on the reverse. Pin and safety catch are safe and secure. Beautiful condition and patina. This design was featured in the museum exhibit WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE. Pictured on p. 229 of the museum catalog by Penny Morrill.
