Magnificent 5 inch tall sterling silver salt & pepper shakers or casters designed and signed by American and Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). The pair weigh 242 grams or 8 1/2oz. Each is accented with applied silver bands along with a ball and bead atop the dome shape. Each hallmarked on the underside. This design is one of Spratling's last coming from the mid 1960's. Beautiful condition with no dents or dings. Cork bottom stoppers in fine working order. The set is pictured on Phyllis Goddard's extensive website spratlingsilver.com. Spratling designs are featured in the 20th Century Mexican Silver collection in the Latin American Wing of Los Angeles County Museum of Art - LACMA. Items from the Mexican silver collection can be viewed on the museum's website.
