Stunning vintage hand wrought amethyst and 990 sterling silver necklace designed and signed c. 1940-45 by Taxco, Mexico artist Hector Aguilar (1905-86). Pendant measures 2 3/4" X 2 3/4". The original hand forged chain and clasp measure 24" long. Weight of necklace is 87grams, 3.1oz. The ancient amethyst stone measures 7/8" across and is in perfect condition. No dents or dings to the silver. Fully hallmarked on the reverse HA 990 TAXCO. This rare design is pictured on p. 33 of SILVER SEDUCTION: THE ART OF MEXICAN MODERNIST ANTONIO PINEA by Gobi Stromberg.
