Dramatic deeply hand carved sterling silver cuff bracelet designed and signed circa 1940's by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). The face of the cuff measures 2 1/2" from top to bottom. Inside measures 5 1/2" end to end with a 1 1/2" opening for a wearable length of up to 7". Weight - 136 grams, 4.08oz. Beautiful condition with no repairs. Pictured In SPRATLING SILVER by Cederwall & Riney and on Phyllis Goddards' Spratlingsilver.com where she states that Spratling referred to the design as "ancient Aztec". Spratling designs are featured in the permanent 20th Century Mexican silver collection at LACMA. The collection can be viewed on their website.
