Stunning, elegant and rare this sterling silver & turquoise necklace was designed & signed circa 1950's by Taxco, Mexico modernist artist Antonio Pineda (1919-2009). Necklace measures 17 wearable inches long X 1 inch wide at the center panel. Weight - 194 grams, 6.08 oz. The 13 "floating" stones are very closely matched in color and all are in beautiful condition as is the silver. Slide in clasp is tight and secure. Hallmarked on the clasp with Antonio crown, 970 & eagle 121. A version of this design with moonstones is pictured on p. 160 of SILVER SEDUCTION:THE ART OF MODERNIST ANTONIO PINEDA by Gobi Stromberg. Antonio designs are included in the permanent 20th Century Mexican silver collection at Los Angeles County Museum of Art, LACMA.
