Early & rare this vintage sterling silver, turquoise and coral bracelet was designed circa 1930-48 by Matilde Poulat. The dove (palomas)at the center is raised so it appears to be inflight. Poulat signed her designs Matl, a variation on the Aztec word for water. The center panel is 1 1/2" across x 1 1/4" high. Length is 7 1/4". Each link measures 1" high. Hallmarked Matl & Matl 0.925. Beautiful, natural patina that only comes with age. All stones are original. One of the small turquoise stones has a hairline noticed only on close inspection. This design is pictured on page 220 of MEXICAN SILVER by Penny Morrill & Carole Berk. Matl designs are included in the permanent 20th century Mexican silver collections at LACMA & MFA Boston among others.
