| The work of Evald Nielsen (1879-1958) is as well known in Denmark as Georg Jensen. This magnificent brooch is by Nielsen, a prominent Danish silversmith whose work rivals Georg Jensen in beauty and craftsmanship. He is admired as one of the best Skonvirke designers and opened his own shop in 1907. This Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts (Skonvirke) pin has 2 silver buds that appear to be bursting forth from the flowers. These buds are characteristic of Nielsen's style. The pin measures 1 3/4" wide x 1 1/4 long. It is signed on the back STERLING SILVER / Evald Nielsen / DENMARK and has the original trombone catch. Skonvirke brooches by Evald Nielsen are quite rare. | ||
