I really love these, depicting all types of Victorian life, travels, fashion, music, dance etc. One would purchase an album of these scenes, cut them out and stick them to a screen finishing with a clear glaze. Each panel has a mahogany frame with a giltwood slip...

This fine piece is in two halves with brass mounts and a central secretaire drawer. The whole interior, writing surface and facing drawers is veneered with walnut, perhaps specially commissioned? I have not seen this before on a military chest. It has a gilt tooled leather writing surface which is split at the fold. There are two pigeon holes and three drawers, one with pen and divisions together with original travelling board. Fitted with a brass Brahma lock and keys...

A true Victorian classic, spoon back with the top carved with floral spray. It stands upon cabriole front legs joined by serpentine front carved apron. Button back, velvet cover. A few age related repairs as to be expected as the Victorians quite often had lots of children!

This piece is of nice small size, it has adjustable shelves and retains its original glass. This may well have started life as the upper part of a taller piece however, it now has its very own base and is ideal for a smaller home. Size: H101cm W84cm D27cm

I have never seen one as large as this for sale in many years, it needs two servants to carry it when full. The copper base was replaced around 100 years ago as they used to burn out on the old ranges. Age related dents and scuffs which is quite normal. Inscribed under the lid KWHN. Most impressive, highly decorative. Height 50cm

A lovely imposing piece with great charm I suppose ‘Shabby Chic’ are the right words. The upper part has two panelled doors with brass lock plates which open to reveal three shaped shelves, all painted in old French blue. The lower section is quite plain with grey painted interior. There is old decoration which I think adds to the character. A wonderful rich honey colour. Total Height: 205cm Lower Section: 70cm Upper Section: 135cm Depth: 57cm Width: 125cm

Totally original and unrestored, a folding ebonised stand with brass carrying handle and catch which opens to reveal a series of fitted leather compartments for stationary i.e. envelopes and stamps. There is an inkwell and both sides are lined with a deep blue velvet. Very dusty having not seen the light of day for a great many years. I always wonder what pieces like this would say if they could talk. A wonderful piece for collectors of military history. Size when open H74cm W60cm D51cm
