A most highly decorative piece, profusely carved with great skill, three shaped arcaded shelves which give it an architectural feel. It bears star decoration inlaid with bone. This is a real beauty needing a bit of expert restoration, bridle, reins, stirrup and leathers need replacing, it is always advisable to fit new ones if children are to use it. It was retailed by A.W Gamage Limited of London, possibly made by F.H Ayres, remembered for the manufacture of some of the finest rocking horses. An amusing piece, very nicely modelled with detailed face and feathers. There is a minor dent to the lid, please see photographs. It bears hallmarks for London 1868 and makers initials which are Richards and Brown (Edward Charles Brown). This is a very nice example. Size: 7.5cm Tall
This piece has sections formed as guns. An interesting piece which holds four slices of toast, the dividers are formed as ten muskets. The crumb tray has a sunburst pattern, possibly heralding the start of a fine day. The plate has some wear which is to be expected. This would make a wonderful gift for the shooting or hunting type. An attractive, hand painted, softwood duck, life size with glass eyes. The beak has an old repair and there are one or two other minor battle scars which is most common with these historic sporting pieces. Length: 36cm
The lid of this box is finely crafted with a pair of India Pheasants upon a landscape. The side panels are carved with blossom. The base has a stylised repeat pattern. Two Late 19th Century Arts and Crafts Tiles ‘Children’s Nursery Rhymes’ ‘This is the house that Jack built’ and ‘This is the cock that crowed in the morn’ Both very amusing and highly decorative, especially for the best loved nursery. Size: 15.5cm square.
Classic 1920’s, the green painted German Shepherds are seated on veined black marble with two coloured round supports. There is some loss to the patination on one dog, easily rectified. They obviously are bookends but look rather nice together or as a single ornament. A wonderful purchase for lovers of ‘Dogs and Deco’ Total Length together 39.75cm Height: 9cm
