13th Century Celadon Shallow Dish from the Java Shipwreck. This is a beautiful piece of Chinese provincial porcelain from the middle ages. Within the dish and on the underside are two unglazed circles. In the centre of the dish is a glazed roundel with Peony flower. This lovely little clock was absolutely black when I acquired it. The lady who works for me spent two hours giving the gilt brass a good clean and has completely transformed it, obviously the inside has not been touched. It is keyless having its own winder so no chance of getting lost. All of the glass panels are bevelled. This interesting vesta box has a heraldic shield above a banner with Latin inscription reading; Nosocomio Recali Sancti Eartholomaei Initials engraved on the other side FJD’ The lid is engraved 17 October 1895.
