These interesting mugs are decorated with an under glaze blue tree peony growing from rock on a terrace. Coloured enamels are applied over the glaze. Still unused.! This most interesting beer mug is encrusted with marine life shells coral etc which makes them a wonderful subject for discussion also evidence that they have been at the bottom of the sea for almost two hundred and sixty years. Asprey aquired this maker of high class leather goods in 1906. This is a fine example of Victorian empire style from the workshops of one of the best craftsmen of the day. This box is covered in Dark Green Pig skin with brass mounts secured by tiny flush fitting brass screws. The mounts have Fleur De Lys finials as does the heavy brass handle.
