This amusing oil painting on board depicts a dog fox scavenging through an old dustbin beside a crate of empty bottles so one may presume that it is at the rear of a country pub or the home of an alcoholic! Indistinctly signed lower right. Inscribed verso, Painted in 1987. The frame looks as though the fox has taken a chunk out of it but the painting is in good condition. Size: 38cm by 49cm

A nice pair of oils on panel depicting English river landscapes with cattle and fisherman. Spinks was a landscape artist who exhibited at The Royal Academy and other well known galleries between 1872 and 1907. Condition: Both panels are slightly bowed, most probably due to central heating and there are some losses to a later applied varnish. My advise would be to leave them and enjoy them just as they are unframed. Signed and dated 1900 lower right. Even with their faults a charming pair...

A charming country landscape with sheep being ferried across the picturesque river. Typical figures which seem to appear regularly on the artists paintings. I have attributed this to Walbourn but am also certain that it is by him after comparing it with one that I have had for forty years. Ernest Charles Walbourn (16 February 1872 Dalston, Middlesex - 1927) was a British landscape painter of rural and farming scenes. He was the second of five children and was educated locally...

Most probably of noble birth, very finely painted on oval board, the features are well defined. This fresh faced young man would not be out of place in a fine Grad Tour collection. Presented within a carved giltwood frame bearing some losses, depicting oak leaves and acorns. Repainted in gold paint but a lovely frame. This young lady is dressed in formal wear of the Victorian era, she is wearing fine jewellery which are most probably family heirlooms. There are no hints as to who this girl is, she most probably comes from an aristocratic family and is painted by a highly accomplished portrait artist. Oil on canvas, one or two bits of age related wear...

Portrait painting of a bearded Russian Nobleman in traditional attire including splendid headwear. I would describe him as being a strong character as well as having a fair disposition and a slight air of mystery. A worthwhile addition for the collector. This fine portrait has been in the same family since it was first painted. It is on oval panel within a gilt frame and oval mount. I have always had a soft spot for paintings that depict donkeys, this one is no exception. The donkey is having a well-earned rest after carrying the large baskets laden with fish. A fisherman and his son discussing the days catch, boats and figures on the beach with the sea in the distance. A most pleasing composition, oil on canvas, unframed without stretcher. There are some old restorations, minor losses and a few worm holes which due to the age I believe one could live with. Monogram l...

A thought provoking scene of Norwich City after a bombing raid. The brave bomb disposal experts removing a large unexploded bomb with much courage. The bomb out shells, once fine city landmarks, but the Norman Cathedral rises magnificently in the background. A lasting memory of this wonderful city in one of its darkest hours. Oil on board, titled lower centre. Size: 39cm by 47cm
