This most interesting Victorian Silver combination wick holder and vesta case was given to Colonel F.H Neish of The Gordon Highlanders who was also wrote an historical Diary of the same. There is an inscription to the underside which reads; FH Neish from JN XMAS 1885. The case bears hallmarks for London 1885 and makers initials AF for Alfred Fuller. This dates from around 1785 and depicts a family around a fire after gathering fern. I do love Morlands figures, always well rounded and in this case not unattractive Unframed. £300.00

A lovely scene depicting an old cottage which looks to have origins in the 15th Century and has been added to until the Late 17th Century. Full of charm and character, the well worn stone mounting block and a man wearing a smock climbing stone steps to a sturdy wall which perhaps could be the remains of earlier fortifications. The trees and woodland complete this typical English scene. Signed lower right, presented within modern dark wood gilt lined frame with mount. Size: 47cm by ...click for details

£150.00

A fine figural sketch of a naked man and woman, this may well be a preparation piece for a larger painting. There is some writing at the bottom which I cannot decipher and also an amount of tearing but the main image is not affected, just a few creases. A high quality drawing in an oval grey mount. Unframed. Size: 42cm by 23cm

£1880.00

John P Burr RBA ARWS ‘Three Minutes’. A wonderful glimpse into Victorian everyday life depicting a pretty young girl boiling eggs in a pan over an old cast iron range. The girls nicely quaffed hairstyle, smart day dress and smock suggests that she may be a Daughter of the big house who has decided to cook her own breakfast. One can always tell when scenes are painted from life and in the same period, the attention to detail is excellent right down to the cat patiently waiting upon the cha ...click for details
