19th Century Coromandel Wood Table Cabinet
I really do love this most attractive cabinet. This beautiful cabinet has three long drawers with brass ring handles enclosed by two doors above a larger lower drawer, standing on ebonised turned, round feet. During Victorian times Corromandel was one of the most expensive woods and was the chosen veneer for vanity boxes, jewellery and dressing cases. It’s nice to find a slightly larger example where this luxurious wood can be shown off to greater advantage. Corromandel was so popular that the countries it came from i.e. South East Asia and India that in the Early 20th Century it became almost extinct so period pieces are extremely sought after. A lovely piece, deserving of a fine home. Size: 15 ¾” long, 7 ¾” deep, 16 ¼” tall.
