Early 20th Century Horse Painting
This quality oil painting on board depicts a light bay hunter gelding in a stable with its bridal waiting to be tacked up in readiness for a day’s hunting. He has been fully clipped with a hogged mane, only the legs have been left to protect against mud etc. A white blaze and three white socks about 16.3 hands high. This artist certainly knew how to paint horses. I have a Lionel Edwards horse painting and the similarity is quite remarkable. Signed lower left I.B Thomson In a rather tatty giltwood frame. 36cm x 30cm
