Oil Painting," Haymaking "By Rowland Wheelwright
If one dare say that a painting has the ‘feel good’ factor, this one most certainly has. An Idyllic Edwardian family scene in a busy hayfield with mother and daughter bringing food and ale for the menfolk who are sitting under a haystack, shaded from the rays of the early June sun. The faithful Collie and a greyhound waiting to chase. Rowland Wheelwright was born in Queensland Australia in 1870. He studied Art at Herkomer's Academy in Bushey, Hertfordshire Between 1895 and 1938 he exhibited a total of forty one paintings at the Royal Academy, as well as exhibiting at the Royal Society of British Artists from various addresses in Bushey, where he lived until his death in 1955.
