Follower of David Cox Senior (1783-1859)
This fine watercolour depicts a traditional haymaking scene of the early 19th Century when the whole family got involved in turning and loading the crop of hay.
The secret is to stack it dry to avoid mould, a few menacing clouds can be seen in this painting so it’s a race against time!
I am not an expert in David Cox’s works so in order to be on the safe side one has put ‘follower’ instead of ‘by’ although it could well be by the great man himself.
Whatever, it is a lovely painting of good size, signed and dated lower left 1844.
Presented within a glazed giltwood frame.
Size: 46cm by 66cm
