Description: A white-glazed box was preserved with an original cover. On top a squeezed motif of butterfly was intriguingly applied. It was well preserved in very good condition when enduring old crackles and frets were rendered due to age. It also exemplified the ancient mood. My close-up pictures somehow exaggerated the details. A box applied with squeezed motifs was really hard to find. Most of the boxes we found were in print/cut motifs for decoration. Some similar pieces are in the famous collection of Ma Wei Du in Beijiang. Date: Tang Dynasty, 618-907 Width: 7.3cm, Height: 4.3cm. A CUSTOM-MADE SILK-BOX IS INCLUDED. |
