Description:
A finely potted Zadou was in nice form.
Well glazed in golden tint, the ware obtained the time-enduring characteristics by immensely spread crackles, the iridescent effect reflected inside the body, the spiral-like scars left at the bottom (they were caused by the potter when they moved the vessel from the mill by a wire.) and the old-looking surface.
It was kept in perfect condition except some time-caused frets on the mouth rim.
One small glaze flect was found at the lower portion of the body when gray-tinted body clay was revealed underside.
Date: Southern Dynasties,420-589.
Provenance: Hongzhou kiln, JiangXi province.(The beginning site for Chinese celadon wares.)
Body Width: 12.4cm, Height: 9.2cm.
